He dropped the electric torch from a hand drained of muscular power or nervous coördination, nor heeded the sound of crunching teeth which told of its fate at the bottom of the pit. He screamed and screamed and screamed in a voice whose falsetto panic no acquaintance of his would ever have recognised; and though he could not rise to his feet he crawled and rolled desperately away from the damp pavement where dozens of Tartarean wells poured forth their exhausted whining and yelping to answer his own insane cries. He tore his hands on the rough, loose stones, and many times bruised his head against the frequent pillars, but still he kept on. Then at last he slowly came to himself in the utter blackness and stench, and stopped his ears against the droning wail into which the burst of yelping had subsided. He was drenched with perspiration and without means of producing a light; stricken and unnerved in the abysmal blackness and horror, and crushed with a memory he never could efface. Beneath him dozens of those things still lived, and from one of those shafts the cover was removed.

Let's have some fun.  Through Halloween submit spooky or scary poems to our Horror and Mystery gallery, using the forms listed on our homepage, inspired by your favorite horror stories or poems.  In your comments recommend authors and works for others to explore.
I'm very sorry for the lack of leadership and direction with Multhaiku, especially in the wake of HaikuWriMo, I just did not anticipate the workload I would have during the month of February. In fact, I suspected otherwise, haha! Because of this, I would really like to take a moment to thank kerrybush42 and haijinik for proceeding to be awesome contributors in my sudden and unexplained absence. They are both singlehandedly responsible for all the haiku activities at the group over the last month and deserve all of the recognition. All of it! Thank you guys. I cannot thank you enough.

Multhaiku started way back when as an experiment with betwixtthepages after vespera's eye-opening article on Scifaiku. I fell in love with scifaiku and often wondered about the concept applied to all genres of poetry, and this group was ushered into existence from many a helpful hand over the years and continues to be a labor of love for me to preside over. There's never a day on deviantART (yes I still type it that way, it's out of habit) I don't look forward to reading what the members of this group have submitted lately. I'm never disappointed in people's creativity with micropoetry.

In short, I became very preoccupied with school, work, WeirdAndLovely, home improvement, and other various writing I am crafting, but not necessarily posting. I haven't posted many bitlets lately or much free verse, however, that doesn't mean things aren't being written. I think I have up to Bitlets 520-ish posted, and there are currently 550-ish written. Meanwhile, I have been dabbling in the 'adult market' with prose, something that will never see the light of day here on my dA profile, in the hopes of seeing some revenue from this type of writing, due to the demand of the market (people are more willing to pay for it, commission or otherwise).

Lately, the workload looks more lenient and forgiving, and I hope to be able to spend more time here in the future. However, I will be on vacation with my partner for a week and a half here shortly. Because of this, King of the Haiku will make its return sometime in late March.

Thank you to all the people through the years who have made this group absolutely amazing to be a part of!

HaikuWriMo Final Prompt

Tue Feb 28, 2017, 8:00 AM

Your FINAL HaikuWriMo prompt is as follows:

requiem for hope

Enjoy, and thanks for your participation!

Check out our other HaikuWriMo activities here:

Multhaiku's HaikuWriMo ActivitiesWelcome, welcome, one and all to Multhaiku's Haiku Writing Month activities! We're super excited to be sharing this awesomeness with you. :D
Here's what's happening:
1. King of the Haiku: Keep an eye on our polls! We are going to be instituting a new group feature that works something like King of the Hill. People will vote between two haiku daily, and the poem with the most votes at the end of the day will continue on to face a new challenger. The goal is to get the longest streak.
The haiku for the challenge will be handpicked by the group admins, and we'll keep a journal with the history of the longest streaks, their authors, and which poems do the best.
2. Mondo Grove Monday: This is also a new journal feature that will be replacing Multhaiku Weekly for February only. The gist of it is that haijinik will post a founding haiku or senryu in the form of a question (or call), and anyone who wishes to participate can respond with a poetic answer (or response) to the orig
mondo monday #4: maudlin mondaya mondo is, simply, a tanka in which the founding haiku/senryu is written by one poet in the form of a question (or sometimes, for our needs, a call) and the concluding couplet is written by another poet in the form of an answer (or response).
here is how this is gonna work:
-each monday of this month new a founding haiku/senryu will be provided.
-you guys out there in dA land take foundation and reply to it. you can simply cast off your two line reply in the comments below -or- feel free to POST the question/call and answer/response as a deviation and count it as part of your haikuwrimo tally. (if you take this option, please credit the author of the foundation you are using in the artist's comments of you deviation and maybe provide me a link in the comments below so i can feature at least a few of the various mondos we create together).
-each week a sampling of responses, both from the comments and from submitted deviations, will be featured.
-mondos have a tend

mondo monday #4: maudlin monday

Sun Feb 26, 2017, 4:14 PM by haijinik:iconhaijinik:

-mondos have a tendency to...expand. with that in mind, feel free to feed off one another's responses. while i don't have the time or patience to track ALL of the possible mondo-y goodness, if a particular thread catches my attention, i may feature that also.

-i will be looking for other poets to provide the founding haiku/senryus for the up-coming additions of this event, so if you participate this week, don't be shocked if you get a note from me asking if you want to contribute.

this week's foundation i have supplied:

where shall we, now, go,
with haikuwrimo over?
what shall we, now, do?

last week's responses i will compile and edit into this post later this week.
